It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the death of our
very beloved teacher, Madame Gao Fu, in Beijing on January 17th, 2005.
She passed on following a very brief illness and died in the presence
of her family. As much pleasure as she gained by spending many of her
last years teaching in Seattle, Washington and the United States, it was
her wish to spend her last days with her family in Beijing, and this
she accomplished.

The park bench dedicated to the memory of Gao Fu is now installed at
Seward Park in South Seattle. We would like to again express our appreciation
to the many friends who made this possible.

Seward Park is located at 5900 Lake Washington Blvd S. (where S. Juneau St.
ends at Lake Washington). The bench is installed on the south shoreline
of Seward Park. Leave your car in the south parking lot and follow
the loop walking path that goes along the edge of the lake toward the
east (counter-clockwise around the park). Go past the children's
playground and walking another minute or two, the bench is at the
lake's edge and right near two London Plane trees. If you've walked as
far as Picnic Shelter #2, you've gone a little too far. If it's a
clear day, the bench looks out in the direction of Mt. Rainier.
There's a plaque installed that states (in English and Chinese):
"Dedicated to Gao Fu, Master of Taijiquan, 2005".
